I'm thinking of fitting a Carbon monoxide and/or LPG Alarm to my caravan but seek advice on which or both (or combined unit) are required.
Can anyone advise me based on experience or research they have already done.

What is your reason for a Carbon Monoxide alarm, the Gas alarm is self explanatory. Do you have a gas heater?

A gas stove will still produce CO as part of combustion, it can accumulate if caravan not adequately vented.

the two alarms are for different purposes and could be argued best in different locations

the LPG alarm should work for any flamables ...... not sure if combined units are available or advisable

cheers

I have both.
The gas leak alarm (hard wired 12V) is set low down and the combination CO and smoke alarm (Bunnings with 10 year battery - several available) is set at head height.

Ditto for us. LPGas alarm at floor level and wired to the house battery. CO alarm from the big green place with 10 year lithium battery. Instructions say to install about 30cm from ceiling because of "dead spots". A Smoke alarm hard wired with lithium battery. I understand the LPGas detector is mandatory, as is the smoke alarm when sleeping quarters are in the van. Decided upon the CO detector because we have a underfloor gas heater. Properly installed, it shouldn't be a problem but the detector is cheap enough to be on the safe side.

Just wondering if the gas alarms are fitted to caravans during the manfucture process.
I asked my dealer when buying our NA MR about gas alarms, his reply was he is never been asked to have one fitted when some one orders a van.
Ours was not ordered but a stock van.Am looking at getting one fitted in the near future.

I have never seen a connected smoke alarm in a caravan.

It seems to me that one piece of toast cooked and off they go, in more ways than one!

The mobile home camped next to us at south west rocks had one and yes, they liked toast every day. Nice people though.
We carry a cmo alarm in the camper for peace of mind when heating.

Get the one with the silencer button, shuts it off for 5 minutes or so then turns back on automatically.
