They aren't the greatest design but where you get this problem is mostly caused by how you disconnect the plug.
I get a great run out of the flat plugs, what I don't do is wiggle the plug sideways when disconnecting, that stops the pins from squeezing together and giving you a bad connection. I would average around 3 to 4 hundred connects and disconnects in a year and get 3 yrs out of a plug.

Had never considered that Eagle but a simple way to fix them is to run a
Stanley Trimmer blade down the split in the pin, this spreads them apart again.

Yep, but not for long as the pins have already lost their tensile strength.

Micheal, if you have the strength pull it straight out, otherwise move it up and down as that doesn't squeeze the pin slots together.

What about a large round 7 pin. I have the same problem and the pins have two slots so whichever way you jiggle it, the pins will be affected.
Maybe change to a 12 pin flat?

Are you running too much power (amps) through the larger pins .....that will cause problems if you are consider fitting an Anderson Plug.

Do what I've got and use the Large 7 pin round with Anderson plugs for the rest. Not my idea but my van manufacturer refused to fit the flat plugs.

Victorian plated caravan and tow vehicle ? they only one who legislate a large round pin setup. rest are flat or small round, apart from heavy vehicles.
why anybody would try use 12 pin for every contact allowing for voltage drop to auxiliary battery to caravan etc is beyond me. as you mentioned anderson plug is best method.
Do find dust gets into plugs all time despite blanking off when not using anderson or trailer plug but squirt of electrical contact cleaner helps alot

NSW Rego, but built in Vic!
The builder was very insistent about the use of the Large Round. I had used the flat 7 for years but the pins were always getting pinched in and obviously overheating on the brake pins. Best move ever to use the round! Got a wireless breakaway indicator so no wiring needed for that.
