That looks like any burnout marks seen done by any car on any out of the way piece of bitumen anywhere. Nothing to do with off roaders.

The first picture is also on the dry lake surface, so yep, 4WDrs playing up.
And yes, no wonder authorities closed off areas when this happens, even though it might only be 1/100 that acts in this way.

It's hard to fathom sometimes, but when crap behaviour like that happens and of course captured on camera, everyone gets upset and demand retribution, but when the resources industries obliterate 'Aboriginal sacred sites' and belt the environment ~ not much public anger or concern, simply because it's kept quiet, but it happens very often.

The first picture looks like motorbike donuts not 4wd.

I was actually expecting to see a photo of a recent Canning Stock Route traveller who drove on the track and has caused havoc, was on Facebook but he has since removed it after people tore into him.

It is a really sad state when reckless 4wd'ers cause the majority of us to have ever diminishing access to outback areas and I really cannot blame them when you see this sort of bad behaviour.

Sadly, there will always be the idiots out there who just an't help themselves. It must be in their DNA. We are lucky that we get great people visiting us! Toni

These "types" are, unfortunately, everywhere.

Back in my previous life, we were flying just west of the Diamantina, and there were numerous "donuts" scattered across the claypan, where no doubt, one of my illustrious young assistants had been honing his motorbike skills for the betterment of himself and his employer. Was a bit hard to pick who the culprit was, though I had an idea, so bided my time.

Sometime later, the suspected "donuter" and his drinking mate returned from town in their ute, well plastered, and proceeded to do even bigger & better donuts through part of the station area and across the airstrip. What to do with them?

Handing them their marching orders was too easy and too much paperwork for me, so I had a plan! Went down the shed together, handed them a rake each, and got them rake the entire area they'd been ripping up. Took them half a day, and they were buggered by then. And I enjoyed watching them do it!
