Hi everyone :)
for my next trip to Australia I have a huge luxury problem finding the right route around and across the land...

I'll start in Perth at the beginning of Januar 2018.
The end will be 02.01.2019 (flight back from Sydney).
and between ???

My idea is something like:
January: Perth, South, Albany, Esperance
February: Eucla, Port Augusta, Adelaide
March: Sydney (WWOOFING)
April: Sydney Surroundings
May: Brisbane
June: Cairns
July: Alice Springs
August: Broome
September: Darwin
October: Alice Springs
November: Melbourne (Victoria High Country)
December: Sydney

And of course in between a few 4WD-Treks.

Yes, I'm travelling alone.

What do you think about this route? Any improvements, remarks or tips?
Or Woofing-hosts you can recommend?

cheers
Heiner

Some good descriptions I've found online for luxury problem and WWOOF.

When some spoiled, self absorbed, rich douche is complaining about his or her trivial annoyances when they should have better things to worry ...

WWOOF or Willing Workers on Organic Farms, is a loose network of national organizations that facilitate placement of volunteers on organic farms.
And I'm sure willing workers would lend a hand or two cleaning up after Debbie :)

All this bloke asks for is to let him tap into your accumulated wealth of knowledge about the truly amazing spots of this country.
Where they can be found and how to get there, like in a way which won't cost him an arm and a leg.

Thanks all for your contributions in advance.

hmmm, not shure if you are kidding me or not, my english is not the best...

No, not rich, saving money since 2015 for this trip.

For me the major thing of wwoofing is to get in contact with locals.

No, I don't need knowledge about amazing spots, most of them are well known, the other are known by friends and friendly locals.

The only thing I'ld like to know is what i asked for...

And some Replier are nice enough to answer it :)

Well I would certainly mix the order up a bit. I would do Melbourne after Adelaide, then Sydney to Brisbane. I would also go Cairns, Alice Springs, Darwin then Broome. I would also just drive down the coast from Broome back to Perth. That gives you pretty much a complete lap of the country plus the red centre. At the moment you plan is all over the place zig zagging back and forward.
I don't know anything about wwoofing sorry.

Ah, yes.... Normally I'm driving a tank with a roof tent :)

No seriously. I'll buy a used Toyota Landcruiser HZJ78 HiTop or so.
Fully equiped with camping stuff , repair tools and other equipment.

I've started looking for such a car in the internet and I hope to find one the next half year.

The Australian bush is unique in the world. Cities are cities.
There is no way to see Australia in 12 months, so make some hard choices and don't bother with the east coast at all.
2 months from Perth to Port Augusta.
2 Months from Port Augusta via the Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track to Alice Springs.
2 Months Top End.
2 months Kimberley.
2 Months inland WA
1 month coastal WA
1 month for something unexpected.
Fly back to Sydney.
Assumes you are self driving in a 4WD.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,
first thx. for the info, that helps a lot.
Are you living in WA ? :)

Yes, you are right, I dont like citeis neither, the only reason why i wrote down the city-names was to show the region and the time when to stay there (because the weatcher conditions)...

Hehehe, if I talk to my german friends (also addicted to australia) about NOT going east-coast I hear indignation...

But maybe (if i dare) I'll go on a tag along to the tip...

AND most imortant, whats about the amasing High Country in Victoria.

But I'll think about changing the route completly :)

Cheers
Heiner

Heiner, we live in Adelaide. Our favourite places are the Kimberley, the South Australian deserts, the Pilbara, the Cape, ...... there are many..... In 2013, 2014, 2015 we spent 6 months each year in Europe in a 4WD motorhome (it never got used in 4WD in Germany except at Allrad, Bad Kissengen in 20013, but a few times in other places).

There is lots of fabulous country to explore, including the Vic High Country and the Cape (you don't need a tag along, if you have some 4X4 experience), but you can not do it all and you need some "slop" in the time table to allow for those unexpected things that will happen along the way. You need time to get to know the locals.

My advise is to see what is most different from Germany and Europe, so concentrate on the deserts and the tropics, the Kimberley and the Pilbara and stay away from big cities.

Looking back at the timetable I posted earlier, I would take one month OFF Perth to Port Augusta and save it for something else not planned.

Cheers,
Peter

Heiner,
I'd disagree with the claim that you can't see Australia in 12 months. We had a leisurely 34,000 km around Oz trip over 13 months, and weren't rushed at all.
There is an abundance of sights in the West not to be bypassed, but Peter's suggestion of nearly 6 months in the West is a bit over the top.
Missing the East Coast would be a big mistake.
