The Sleaford to Wanna 4WD Track, Lincoln National Park

I recently drove this track near Port Lincoln in South Australia. I had not heard of it before and cannot find it on a search of Exploroz. This is a pity as it is a spectacular drive.

I purchased a brochure from the local tourist bureau for 50 cents which describes the track- "massive wind sculpted sand dunes, pounding surf, limestone cliffs, breathtaking views."

The 18 km track follows a series of marker poles along the coast. The Eyre Peninsula 4WD Club maintains the poles and produces the brochure. They recommend 20-22 psi and 3-4 hours to drive the track.

The track is a lot of fun to drive. Sometimes locating the next pole can involve a bit of trial and error as they are not all obvious. This only adds to the experience. The sand driving is moderately difficult. There are a few long sand climbs at the Wanna end that require careful gear selection. The track is mostly sand but there are plenty of rough limestone sections as well.
