A quick note to wish all forum members and their families well over the next couple of days around Townsville to Mackay. Hope you all stay safe, that you don't cop too much damage and your fourbies stay out of harms way.
I hope some EO members will be able to tour through in the coming months to help put some money back into the economy.

Yes Az, this could be a bad one.
I see a lot of people around the old home town of Bowen, probably the epi centre of what may be the worst of it, are refusing to evacuate.
Probably because most of these storms have in the past dwindled as they come towards the coast.
Murphys Lay might come into play this time, but let's hope it doesn't get to cat 5 for them.

Hi Les, lets hope it doesn't get to Cat 5. The storm surge will be as much as an issue for Bowen as the wind, especially if the cyclone hits around high tide which it looks close to doing.
I've only been through a coupe of Cat 1/2's in Darwin, and you really don't want anything stronger than that; even a Cat 2 is a worry and not at all pleasant when you are in the middle of it with flooding, fallen trees property damage etc.

Well, Bowen, love your town and your stretch of paradise.
Looking forward to our planned trip in July and spreading our tourist dollars along the coast.
Robyn :)

Wow.
Spoke too soon!
Damn Debbie.
Spreading the love and the tourist dollars now encompasses a much longer stretch of the coast than any of us could have imagined a few days ago...including my own back yard on the far north coast.
There are now a lot of towns to scatter our tourist dollars!

And I came out of it much much better than a lot of my colleagues.
Best wishes to all soggy EO folk.
May your next visitor have a mop, may your days rain sunshine for a while and may you find sanity a.s.a.p.

:) Robyn
