It's not Friday Funnies, but ...
So the OP asks if anyone knows where to get Bacon Stock Cubes, and if so are they real bacon or chemicals?
EO in true form has answered every question except the two the OP asked about.
-OP is referred to the
Forum rules that the subject is off topic ( but it isn't removed or locked)
-We learn that Friday Funnies and
camp cooking are exempt from the OT rule
-there is some argy bargy about trolling
-We learned that none of Continentals's products are Halal ( especially the pork I guess!!)
-Aldi is a German company and Germans love Pork but not as much as Australians who eat 54kg a year.
-While some brands of Baked beans with Ham sauce have disappeared off the shelves, Heinz is still available at Woolies. You can even get it with genuine bacon bits.
-2.2% of Australians or 476,300 people are Muslims according to the 2011 census.
-Those stats make the poster a Muslim basher, apparently this post is a poor excuse to abuse other members.
-The OP is bullied out of talking about Bacon and onion soup because it is now a taboo subject.
-Not to be outdone, Lamb is disappearing from the shelves. Mutton is disguising as lamb ( Mutton dressed as Lamb so to speak)
-Most Aussie Lamb is over 8 years old.
-Massive Lamb steak eyes are appearing on dinner plates. We should adopt the NZ lamb classification system.
-Selling old sheep as Lamb should be illegal.
-People are now getting nervous that anything they say will offend people.
-We learn that stock cubes are a chemical and Salt mixture. Only hypothetical links to animals exist.
-It's best to make your own stock
-No it's not. Especially if you are down wind of someone cooking bbq onions -
Home cooking of stock cubes can be torture.
-There is even one irrevelent post on the thread its self
:-)
-Buried in all pf those subjects, 2 people actually made the effort to answer part of the OP's question.. We learned that the Panty man is the ONLY supplier of Bacon Stockpowder in Australia, but Exotic Groceries also sell it in Australia.
No one has attempted to answer the trickier question of the actual bacon content in the only Bacon stock available in Australia, or even the other one that is available.
Apologies to the OP and everyone I paraphrased. I'm not picking on any one or any statement ( I guess I'm picking on everyone, even me)
How can a thread like this be useful to anyone, especially the OP? 95% plus of the responses are totally unrelated to the actual thread. Unfortunately its a growing trend amongst a shrinking audience.

I should add that the reason I posted this 'light hearted' post is because I have recently posted a couple of questions that rapidly went so OT that I felt I completely wasted my time asking. This one seems similar to me. I'm guessing the OP feels much the same way.
The answers are all very valid answers to questions not asked. I hope EO can address this somehow.

Good eye for detail Tony, we have all learned a lot and had a good laugh with your summary, this is exactly how i would imagine a discussion would go round a campfire with plenty of fluids flowing, its all in good fun. Been over a year since I had an opportunity to sit round a fire, and seeing I have had to shelve the construction of the
camp trailer because I have been rudely interrupted by employment I find myself back in an aircraft tomorrow morning, so this is the closest I'm going to get to a laugh round a fire for a while longer.
By the way, going to the UK in June for some single malt therapy, so I will see if I can find some bacon stock on the shelves there.
Thanks for putting it in perspective.

By the way, if I only offended 2.1% of the members i am getting better, normally offend a lot more.
That was a joke by the way.

Yes, you only offended 2.1% ACCORDING TO THE 2011 Census.
However as you know it is now 2017. If the 2016 Census ever sees the light of day you may have offended more.

I haven't been away for a while either qldcamper.
You and I need to get together around a
camp fire to analyse this more. You with Single Malt, me with Port. Won't that be a pretty sight at 1AM!!
Put another log on the fire and 1 more drink. That's it and I'm going to bed.
Heard that before?
