I have what has been told to me, a generic type G.P.S when I bought this off a friend, there were no instructions with it, and he told me when you want updates on it metro road & cameras etc send it to me(n.t) obviously he is a paid up memberto get the updates, when you turn the gps on the name P NAVI comes up presumably the gps name,it has ozi explorer installed and a whole lot of tracks and journeys that have been done.
My question is,I am thinking of buying possibly a Hema gps,can I get ALL the information on the gps transferred to the new one?
The old one has all the off road maps and the metro directions, not as good as some but,it does the job.
Thanks for any help.
Ian.

Sounds like you are asking advise on transferring pirated software?

Thanks for the reply Malcom, no it is not a pirate programme, it is what was installed in the gps when my friend bought it, and he definitely is not into pirating, obviously I have asked the wrong question, and it can`t be done, I will just buy the programmes.

If the thing has an SD card in it and the tracks are on that you may be able to swap them between units and use them
If you Google P Navi you will find some maps etc for it
If he has access to them he should just give you his login details and you could get them yourself

yes, it does have an sd card,as small as it is,does that mean any gps is compatible?

Not necessarily Just means that if you have compatible data on the card, like a contacts file it may work with the other one

Hello
You should be able to transfer/copy OziExplorer data (waypoints, tracks, routes and maps) from the old to the new if they both are running some version of OziExplorer relatively easily. Just find the files and copy and move into the appropriate location.
Keep in mind that the latest "Hema" (HX1) doesn’t have OziExplorer....so you won’t be able to use any existing OziExplorer maps. You may or may not be able to use the data (waypoint tracks and routes), but at a guess you would at least have to convert data to GPX format (easy enough). I am not however sure if you can them import this data into the “Explorer” mapping program on the HX1 – don’t have one so no idea.
If you got hold an older HN 7 then no problem.
Cheers
Greg

Thanks Greg, that is the info I am chasing,it is very interesting you saying about the hx1, I may have to look at the HN7, unfortunately, too many dramas getting login details from original owner,so just easier to buy my own gps, but ther are some excellent, tracks, waypoints etc that's why I would like to keep it, thanks for your help.

Hi Ian. You can easily update your Navi Manually. The igo street nav and Ozi. I owned one and set many up as group buy in a 4x4 clubyear ago. Buying a Hn7 will give you no benefits, both a WinCe 6 devices in the same class

Hi, not an answer to your question but may be of interest...we have a hema hn5 but I find that my ipad with google maps works really
well wherever we have been. Did the Connie Sue and Sandy Blight teacks and our little blue spot on google maps was there for us all the way regardless of net signal or no. I use it always now, easier than the hema!
