After postponing a trip doing the complete Loop from Tom Groggin, Pinnibar around to Davies Plain and return to near Tom Groggin, we find once again tales of woe in the Parks Vic site. Wash-outs and tree's down which was the same call in November 2016. However these current announcements are about 3 weeks old and our planned trip is mid - March.

Can anyone shed some light on the track conditions in this region please?

Cheers

I did Tom Groggin -> Mt Pinnibar -> Mt Gibbo Track -> Mt Anderson Track ->Mt Anderson Rd -> Tom Groggin Track -> Tom Groggin in an afternoon at the end of Jan 2017.

I'd say it was all pretty easy - there are a couple of slightly chopped up sections at the bottom of the Tom Groggin Track before it starts climbing up the ridge but the rest was all easy.

My Dad towed an Ultimate Camper trailer up the Tom Groggin Track in mid-Dec with a standard 120 Prado (unlifted - better described as sunken as it still has the factory suspension!).

There was a sign at the bottom saying the Davies Plain Track was closed. I'm not super surprised - we went up that the year before in Jan & April and it was getting quite chopped up in places.

Thanks Peter, coming from NSW the 'Loop' may have to be modified. I'm advised the Dozer has been busy on most of the regions tracks with the exception of Davies Plain Track.

I think the dozer had been up the Mt Pinnibar & Tom Groggin Tracks a while ago - there were no "dozer track" marks visible but they were in good condition. The Mt Gibbo/Mt Anderson tracks haven't seen a dozer for a while - they were a bit overgrown. Mt Anderson Rd and the Tom Groggin Track to the National Park boundry were in fantastic condition - 2 lane dirt roads with white marker posts/etc.

I came from the NSW side - the river crossing had apparently been fixed up after some flooding but looked the same as the last few times I'd been there.

Have heard there is no access to Davies High Plains at all, via Buckwong, McCarthys and Davies High Plains track.

Saw a sign in the tourist info centre in Corryong yesterday (Sat 25/2)

Said the Davies Plain track is closed from Tom Groggin to the Hut at Davies.

As previously reported it's worse news at the southern end with a major track wash out which will need road fill and drainage.

PS Friday on my Mind was their breakthrough but 'Doctor Doctor' - Easybeats 1965 is my favourite :)
