Hi putrol

I will let you know in 3 months when I go there. You will also need a way of crossing the river to get to the other marker on the other side.

Cheers

G`day Mate,
I just Googled "Maccabe Corner", there is a fair bit of info there but can`t find anything about private property. The map shows tracks to it through forest so I reckon it`s river reserve.

There's been a fair bit about this on 4x4 Earth forum, McCabe Cnr has the 2 corners where the 'disputed' misaligned Vic / SA Border has that little blip.
There is some good Wiki info on it for sure.
I think McCabe is the more easterly point, in the middle of the river (there might be a bouy ?) as this is where one surveyor should have come to from the south, but mucked it up !!
You can drive to Customs House at the end of Murtho Rd to that point, the other is a bit of a jetski / kayak kinda place :)
There looks to be tracks to the easterly southern bank, but could be on private property.

A bit of trivia...... Of the five state border junctions, only S.A. is in each of them.

Hot ?
Been a few days the other week, now quite pleasant.
Brother in Brissy says hot there now though and the rain the other day !
Spend time in both places, don't mind heat (or cold) really.

OK, I'll bite Allan.

"A bit of trivia...... Of the five state border junctions, only S.A. is in each of them."

So ( for a bit of fun)

SGC - Tick
Poeppel Cnr - Tick
Cameron Cnr - Tick

That's 3 I count Allan.

Some may count Haddon Cnr, but that is not a junction, its just a non straight bit of border. ( Like much of Vic / NSW)

Back on topic ( a bit)
Most people would include MacCabe Corner as a 5th one, but not SA Fisheries. They claim that they control all of the river up to the NSW border. so by their reckoning there is no 3 way junction, just the SA NSW border and a SA Vic border to the west. The basis of this is that when Victoria was separated from NSW it was defined as on the southern edge of the river. That still stands apparently. So therefore the part of the river between NSW and SA is in SA, and none of the Murray is in Vic.

An interesting read is "Australia's lost border, Bob Dunn and John Deckert" they argue that there are about 5 or 6 possibilities for the area around VIC, SA , NSW. Non of which are agreed. Some include that some of the Murray is commonwealth land.

An interesting read.

Now what about Boundary Inlet on the Vic Tassie boundary?

:-)

G'day Boo,

Maybe you could argue about my use of "junction" but I couldn't find a better term.
From the dictionary...... Junction: "A place or point where two or more things meet or converge." Arguing about definitions or precise locations will spoil a good story. lol
But I'll be pedantic...... Of the five state places called "Corners" only South Australia is present at each. And here's a picture children......

Actually S.A. has several more places named "xxx Corner"..... Waterloo Corner, Overland Corner and Cream Puff Corner (I kid you not)
Cheers

You see Allan, I don't like to count Haddon Corner because it's the only one I haven't been to. Not counting it works very nicely for me thank you.

I'll have to add Cream Puff Corner to the 'Must do' list though.

The Surveyor Generals Corner has two border markers close together, the east marker has three states WA, NT & SA. The west marker has two states WA & NT. Is this one corner or two ?
