Hi - can't find anything on the 26km Shortcut Track from Cameron Corner to Strzelecki Track southwards. I know it's a private track on Lindon Station, not maintained, but it's on the map and they do allow you to use it. Has anyone done this shortcut? I'm planning to drive it end of May this year.
It seems to cut out at least 75km extra via Merty Merty.

I would like to hear from anyone taken this short cut. Thanks!

I understand that it has been closed for some time now.
For a certain answer, phone the Cameron Corner Store (08) 8091 3872.

I asked about it when at Cameron's Corner and the station owner happened to be sitting next to me

It is definitely closed

As Allan said, now closed by owners (Bollards Lagoon), but worth a shot at trying their number and asking permission . . . you never know.
The track is named Bore Track.
The info on this very forum . . .
Bore Track, Bollards Lagoon

Oh, FYI, the track was closed due to people ignoring closed signs, tearing up this private track in the wet.
Access used to be by honor system donation box ($10).
If you're asking nicely, keep the above in mind, mention you are a resposible 4WDr, it might make a difference, but be prepared for rejection, and to reply "understandable, thanks for your time anyway".
Eventually they MIGHT come around to opening it again.

Les, I think you are confusing the tracks.
Red Devil was asking about the shortcut off the Cameron Cnr-to-Merty Merty road at the SE elbow of that road 26km to the Strzelecki Track, joining near the Strzelecki Crossing. Not the Bore Track, the southern section of which on Bollards Lagoon Stn is also closed, as you say.
The only option now is to go up to Merty Merty then 10km across to the Strzelecki track.

Unless there has been a very big change of heart, you will not get permission to travel on Bollard's Stn tracks.
Even 'Pretty-Please' won't cut it. It is 'No Exceptions". Pity, because that was a very nice drive. You can still travel down the Bore Track in the NP section and could even turn west at the bottom to exit via Toolachi (satellite plant) but they are Santos roads and you could get challenged.

Oh THAT !! :)
Yes, marked private road on the hema, wouldn't really call it much of a shortcut myself really.

Well it did save about 80km rather than going via Merty Merty but it could be difficult for some vehicles in the soft sand and washouts.
It is on Merty Merty Station and was closed by them in 2009. See Thread 67193.

It would actually only save 56km or close to the same point on the Strz Tk south of Merty Merty junction, and in the scope of outback tracks distances up there, it's not a big thing.

Up to Merty then down the Strz adds up to about 70 or 80 km saved Les. Mind you it took just as long with the poor track condition!

Hi again Allan, maybe check your hema distances, it is only the extra 56km, 25 or so to MM vs 24 on the private track = a remaining 10 + 46km to the same point in extra distance . . . but even 70km or 80km isn't a big deal outback.

Don't ever remember a signpost Peter. Just a painted drum.
But then, I often miss signposts! lol
