out of curiousity how do you know you "would have lost the front end if the control arm hadn't been strengetheded"??
I thought it was only the earlier 100 series that had inadequate welding on the lower control arm?

Come on now mate. How do we know that we would break a standard shockie when we head down a very badly corrugated "highway". We don't!! We hit a big hole - Okay!!!!!

The reason for the Lower control arm problem was a welding robot had a hangover and a batch had deficient welds.

If you get on Lcool from what I remember there is a list of dates and I think possibly vin numbers that were affected. It was only for a short period in 2002 from memory

Bob, sorry, but as you have never tried different aftermarket shocks or springs on your vehicle you would not realise your statement is erroneous...... after trying different shocks and springs on mine over time, finally found a shock that really improved the ride quality and road handling, especially on corrugations, Fox shocks are not cheap but certainly a much, much better product than that supplied as original, rebuildable if required, revalvable if required, far greater oil capacity for greatly increased fade resistance........ I am a bush traveller too.............. that likes to do it in comfort and safely
