hi
asking about primus inveter atomic not a kipor, different generators
B4 every body runs down the other brands apart from Honda and Yamaha they also can suffer mechanical issues . Often the parts are very very costly and therefore the unit is a right-off .
If u would also suffer paying the Australian Tax for the purchase of a Honda go ahead .
The 2kv Honda gene are around 800$ more expensive in OZ and the difference in price for a 1kv is 50-150 less in price ..
Briggs and Stratton piston oz 270$ usa 32$
There are all brands of inverter gene in the parts areas of the local small engine shops.
All small invertor types have issues ,mainly invertor boards and running at to higher temps is common .
If u believe Honda and Yamaha are the answer great, but the question was about Primus Atomic

I am fully aware of what you were asking, my point was you get what you pay for.
If you pay $400 odd for a gen set you are not going to get much.
Anyway I will wait for the thread titled, Don't buy these gen sets because they are crap. lol

Hi
Getting what you pay for , this is old school not bad but not strictly correct in the modern age . Hondas and the like have issues some major some minor . Honda stationary engine stuff is no better than any other
well known brands. There stationary engines and generators are not bullet proof . There components are not to the same standard as there motorcycles.
The total import cost would be way way below 500$
If I can afford one is not the point they are basically over priced for around 1750$
There are reasonable gene alternatives out there ,just doing some research about peoples experiences of ownership with the Atomic Inverter units only.

They are so cheap you should buy 2 , that way you've got a back up when it bleep s itself.

You may not get a reply from an Atomic owner, as there might not be any ??
If you have a look around, a lot of these chinese gennies are made in the same factory, and just badged different, in which case I would be looking for the best price and the LONGEST warranty.

hi Gonk
Given the above posts many Atomic owners may not come out of the closet ha ha .
Yes a Chinese gene with a repair /warranty/spares agent network , not the norm .Some Anaconda stores do optional longer warranties now.The atomic 1.2kva constant does produce the same average level of dba as the 2.kv Honda [1.6kv constant] Actual measured and independent
test in camping mag . All of the above has my attention.
The mass production of all things mechanical means the same part can be made in China ,Japan and the USA.
Honda did come with nickel- sil bores in some small engines ,bloody hopeless .Other small engines makers tried this and failed also .
Although Honda and Yamaha do make generators they are not the quality of mbikes or vehicles

HI
Thankyou for your comment .
I have had plenty of there other power equipment stationary engines etc and they all last a reasonable time but not outstanding . Reliability average ,they all use oil when old ,carburetors still need rebuilding . And still they get worn out . That is using the equipment for work purposes.
cheers

Hi Swampy,
Having read your post and all the replies/comments, I am struck by the similarity of reply whenever anyone posts a question about anything other than Toyota/Nissan in regard to vehicles, BFG and Cooper in tyres and Honda/Yamaha in generators.
If you have anything else, you are told to buy the ":chosen" brands only regardless of the original query.
For example I had a '99 Landrover on Maxxis, an old '82 Viscount caravan and use a $98 2stroke genset bought around 10years ago.
Consequently I rarely post on here because of the usual comments about my choices.
My choices all do exactly what I bought them for, so why should I change.
If they go bust I just buy whatever I need to replace them.
Go for it.
Disco.

hi ,
HaHaHa Agree its my choice .
For laughs here is a comparison
After looking into AT tires I settled on the Nexen Rodian AT Pro RA8. Less than 20$ difference in the usa to an equivilant Cooper . Surprise surprise the difference in oz cooper is around $100.
Maxis tires are CST or Cheng Sheng Tires [china ]The Maxis name attracts a higher price doh [They have a few good tires but most are copies ] [Atv ]
Yes I have plenty of solar so generator sourced charging is a back up/secondary . Not wanting to spend large sums on camper only gene . I already have a gene for work and one for
home .
