Has anyone used these valves. If so what is your opinion on them and where can I buy them at a reasonable price?

Davoe - they are between $60 and $70 for a set of 4 in a little leather pouch. Good quality product - solid brass. Don't go for the imitation plastic ones they will really let you down after a couple of uses.
Cheers

Nobby,
Got
mine a few months ago....FREE....from 4x4 Australia Magazine, after I entered a competition....had to say in 25 words etc etc.
I said something like.......
"People are mongrels, always letting me down; except my missus.
But if I had a set of Staun Tyre deflators, even she'd let me down".
They are brilliant at what they do; but you've got to set them to your desired cut-off pressures first.

I've got another type, the only problem is they never get the pressures exact, they never be quiet when they are told to and they eat all your food!
We call em kids. :-)

I bought some for my Eyre Peninsula trip . My mate scoffed at them when I bought them but he soon changed his tune when he had to let down the six tyres on his car and camper . Their great mate .( yes I let him use them )

They are too much for what they are.. Ive had a set for 12+ mths, used once! Dont even know where they are! Got em for free too.
Take a valve key with you remove the valve, count to 15 see how much it has let out, then if you need more do it.
but work out in the end that 20 seconds takes enough to get down 15psi on
mine...

They are
well made and very convenient! Having 3 sets at different pressures seems a bit extravagant.....I have one set of four but have three different pressures selected - 1 at 8psi, 1 at 15psi and 2 at 24psi I finds this works
well as I am not usually in so much of a hurry that I need to let all tyres down at the same time!

That sounds like the best option to me. How long do they take to deflate a single tyre?

Not long - about 2 minutes perhaps? I also find doing this means that after using all tyres are equal pressure (ie takes out any error between deflators). For the 2 units I have set at 24psi I use 1 deflator for the rear and one for the back, that way my pressures left/right will be the same. I figure this is safest if there is any error between deflators.....

I can drop the tyres from 38 psi to 15 psi in about 30 secs per tyre (just as advertised) :)

I've got a set and they are good but not very accurate. The packet says they're pre-set to 18psi but mine seem to vary from around 29psi down to 22.
I'll set them myself to about 18psi. They're good though, save time and effort.

Suggestion, before you buy a second set
I have set 2 of the units at 18 and 2 at 26 and find 2 at each setting are plenty.

I'm getting another set because I want 2 each at 3 different pressures - 15, 20, and 25 psi for the car. I'll probably set the other 2 to 30 psi for the trailer.

Not all that difficult to work with one set.
1. Check calibration to ensure set deflation pressure for each ... easiest to do at the servo.
2. Mark this pre-set point with a fine tip permanent marker .. e.g at 25 psi.
3. One half turn either way from this point adjusts pressure by +/-3 psi.
4. What's so bloody hard about that.
5. Q.E.D.

I bought a set a couple of years ago when they first came out and took them straight back. They had the plastic stems.
They were too inconsistent across all four wheels ie. the pressures were all different by a large amount!
It's not much work to let 4
tyres down. What's the difference of a minute of two.
Save your money and invest wisely!

Mike, things have changed. They are made of brass now and are well made. I have been able to set mine to exactly what I want and in 12 months use (yes, quite a bit actually) they haven't varied. Mind you, I have used silastic on the locking "nut".

I've been told that you must use them on a reasonably regular basis otherwise a seal goes and they can't be fixed. I'm yet to confirm this with Staun as I've a couple of sets and only really use one setting. Hopefully it's not true.
I bought mine direct from Staun and negotiated a better price as I bought a whole heap for friends and acquaintances. This was before you could buy them at the corner store like you can now though. I found Lee at Staun to be very helpful and think that these are a great product
