Having lived in the tropics for many years you grow complacent with many weather events. Cat 2 and 3 cyclones instigate a cyclone party in many homes. It was virtually a cyclone that hit. No wonder people were caught out and had never experienced an event such as what occurred.
Shame that lives were lost, property damaged, animals killed and people traumatised. I am sure all the emergency
services are doing a great job.
To all those affected I wish you the best..

We were at Port Stephens during the storm. There was considerable damage around from properly damage, trees down,
debris every where and no electricity. I thought the emergency
services done a remarkable job. They had roads cleared quickly and were constantly seen around town working. I too have never seen weather to that extreme before. But now we sit on the north coast waiting for another 200-400mm of rain and severe weather.
