Hi Baz
My name is Karin Bayliss-Doolan (I am one of 7 grandchildren of Syd & Grace Bayliss). We (my husband & I) recently did a trip via
Winton,
Longreach &
Julia Creek & I was able to reconnect with Syd by standing on the same soil that Syd once stood on, It was an emotional moment for me. I am very proud of my grandfather & hope to visit & meet Richard when we visit that area next year. My brothers Syd & Tony visited Hancock's Store last Xmas (I received the invite from Richard a few days before the opening (I live in North Qld & wasn't able to make due to the short notice). I can remember when I was a kid & we visited Tumut, I use to sit & watch Syd cut the leather using his thumb nail as a guide, I still have one of the koala stuffed toys he made from kangaroo skin.
Regards
Karin

Karin, thank you very much for dropping by and sharing your insight. From what I have read Syd was a wonderful and remarkable man, and we owe much to such men and women.
Regards
