Hi Heather,
I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles which started on that Castle walk, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you never wanted to go there again after that experience.
I also lugged a big pack up there on a 5-day trip years ago - never again ! It's too steep and uneven, so since then I only do day walks with a small pack, although I always carry tea-making gear, for that inimitable lunch and cuppa on the edge of that huge
cliff on the eastern side of the Castle - what a view !
I love the Budawangs, for me it's a very special place with lots of memories, some painful but
well worth it ! Reading your story has prompted me to put a couple of Byangee Walls photos on my profile, if you're interested.

Nic, we were very pleased that we DID go on that walk otherwise we wouldnt have had Johns heart checked and he would have died suddenly.
Our friends felt a bit guilty as they were all telling him he was too heavy to carry down the mountain and if he died along the way we would have to leave him up there! Little did we know it could
well have happened!
I took many photos along the hike and treasure them because of those
views and the great friends who encouraged me to keep going! Also because I realised I may never get back to visit those
places.
The others are still doing multi day walks through the National Park but like you, we now only do day walks and carry lighter packs. I carry mostly photography gear now, plus water and
John carries the food.
I will look for your photos of Byangee Walls - thanks.
