Any one planning a trip north to south on the CSR later this year July/August that won't mind a couple of
grey nomads tagging along? Have 70 series V8 ute with slide on.
Anyone travelled the
Windy Corner track from
Gary Junction recently?

We were on the
Gary Junction Rd in May last year, the track off from Windy Cnr looked very overgrown and had not been used for a long time.

We travelled the Talawana from start top finish in July last year and can confirm it was very overgrown with spinifex and we were stopping regularly to remove the spinifex build up to prevent a fire. Some parts were quite sandy and some rocky so it really was a line ball with how much we dropped tyre pressures to drive in the sand and not have sidewall damage due to the rocky areas.
Great trip though and we stopped at the last
camp site before
Windy Corner
cheers

What did you eventually run your tyres at? What brand tyre?

I ran them 26psi and they are Mickey Thompson ATZ 4rib
No problems on this stretch, good idea to carry some water spray bottles and gloves as the spinifex gets hot underneath and if you get it in your finger it can become infected - fortunately I was carrying antibiotics as the gloves I bought were left & left hand - bugger didn't
check them before I left.
cheers
