G'day mates,
we're planing to ride the Canning from
Wiluna to
Halls Creek at the end of April.
With 4 car`s (Landcruiser) we like to order 3 200l drums @ the
Capricorn Roadhouse.
Should be enough?
But we can't reach the Roadhouse, there's only the answering machine and we didn't get an answer so far.
Anyone a helpful idea or information?
I understand that they perhaps discontinue this service???

HI Heiner
Keep trying, I have had the same trouble in the past. From memory they have a person dealing with deliveries to stations etc and he/she probably works office hours. Counter staff are usually run of their feet with no time to answer phone calls.
Also remember the day light saving time difference in WA.

If you can't get any one at Capricornia Roadhouse, don't despair.
It's only approx 225 km further north to Kunawarratji, which is sorta half way along the CSR. You can refuel there.
I've never had low fuel trouble doing either the Billiluna to
Kunawarritji leg or the K'warratji to
Wiluna leg. I recall I'm using less than 160 L in either stage but without spending hours sorting through files, I can't be more accurate.
Don't forget the trek files on this site will give you a good fuel consumption guide.
Cheers
PS - the roads may be a bit rougher than in Köln

Good news, just stopped in at
Capricorn Roadhouse and got this info : the person to talk to is Francesca Selbie or Mike on 08 91751535 or email Fuel@outbacktc.com.au. Fax is 08 9175 2408. It's been a bit wet up on the CSR and Mike said they are starting to get a few orders in now. I hope this helps you out.

Bummer, I should have checked the
forum page before going out to the Cappy, Oh
well it's always a nice drive, especially when you can head off the highway and find a nice shady spot on the
Fortescue River and skim a few stones across
the billabong.

G'day Heiner ~ g'day everyone
I have talked with the manager's at the OutBack Travel Centres (
Capricorn Roadhouse) or the Cappy as it's always been known as by the
Pilbara local folk.
Fuel deliveries to the
well 23 drop point will commence in May, this is all weather dependent.
They require a minimum of 6 weeks warning of your earliest estimated time of arrival at
well 23.
All fuel orders and payment can be made either by phone (08) 9175 1535 or Fax (08) 9175 2408.
You need to carry your own means of transferring fuel from the drum to your vehicle.
Please do not remove the drum from the fuel drop point.
Cost per 200 litre drum of DIESEL and UNLEADED FUEL is $595:00
200 litre drum of PREMIUM UNLEADED 98 OCTANE is $615:00
A guarantee is given that your fuel will be delivered to
well 23 by the date ordered ~ unless the weather prohibits access.
No responsibility is taken once the fuel/drum has been delivered to
well 23.
You are required to complete an order form and pay for your ordered fuel before delivery.
Safe travels : Joe Fury

G'day mates,
because my travelmate doesn't get a contact to the roadhouse we have decided to go to Kunawarratji and fill up with diesel there. bit more expensive but that doesnt matter.
And a couple of days befor starting the trip i'll ask here again for weather conditions.
thank's.
Heiner
Btw.: i'm using all the time this salute because i thought its the normal one, but most of the people answering with Hi or Hello.
