Another option is to get HEMA to do a refurbish for you. Email them for details.

Obviously they aren't as numerous out there as "street" navigators for which replacement batteries abound on fleabay listed under the nav device name. But they *should* be as easy to replace as on those other devices. I replaced the battery in my old Garmin Nuvi recently, was a piece of the proverbial, while the dashcam battery was a tad trickier because it was tight as.
In your case, if you're keen to do the job you may have to rip it open and identify the battery type/size/part#. Many of the sellers up in CN will have a listing by size, usually a number like 401220 meaning 4mm thick, 12mm wide and 20mm long.
Or go back to HEMA ...

The 5Ni was made by someone else. VMS maybe. If you can find the same unit as your 6 under another another brand that may get you further with DIY.
Yeah, I too did my Nuvi 760, with an ebay kit.
My 5Ni stopped connecting to computers and the HEMA estimate for a complete refurb - new battery, new s/w install & return post - was $90.
