Hi everyone,
Have just fitted a roof rack to the lid of our lock up trailer to use with a canvas roof bag. Need to get heavier duty gas struts. Any recommendations? We live near Tullamarine Airport.
Plan on using it for bedding and camp chairs for quick pack ups so not too much weight.

Just get the pressure increased on your existing ones!

Struts Australia will have what you need. They are in Laverton and Dandenong

Cheers Mick & Shaker. Will be going through Laverton on Monday.
Are all struts able to be re-gased?

I wasn't aware that you could re-gas them. I presumed you'd have to go to a higher pressure rating.

The boys at Struts-Oz should be able to tell you that.

Cheers

Yes they can be regassed, tell them how much weight you've added & they will regas them accordingly.

Had mine re-gassed before I left on a recent trip. They didn't last long and would never do this again. The price of re-gassing vs the price of new ones just doesn't seem to warrant it.

Best place to go that side of town is Gas Strut Engineering. 11 Leo St Faulkner near the cemetery. 9357 2821
David Sheridan is the owner and knows his stuff. Will regas or supply new ones. I have replaced all on my camper trailer.

Thanks for all the replies and information,
Going to get new struts fitted to suit the weight and application from Gas Strut Engineering as it's close to where I work and comes recommended.
we will then be ready for a week plus camping in the Blue Mountains during Melbourne Cup time.
Any good free camping suggestions welcome. We are self sufficient but new to free camping.
