Not a recommendation, just thought this was amusing. As the video says, if you have no battery pack, no jumper leads but a working chainsaw........

Perfect for anyone that can remember to bring a chainsaw, spare fan belt that fits, and correct

UM yeh...I wonder how effective this would be with the modern vehicles that have the ECU controlling the alternator output.

Interesting, he seems to place great emphasis on the correct direction of rotation.
Well, with an alternator by itself it does really not matter which way round it goes, the AC produced is the same and the rectifiers will sort it out to charge the battery.
It would be a challenge to keep the old V-belt used running true on that multi groove pulley on the alternator.
Direction of rotation gets important when the belt tensioner and other things driven by the same belt are taken into account.
