Hi all
I have our GPS device attached to the windscreen with a 70mm suction cup. All works
well for a few days then in the heat- it falls off. Have cleaned the glass with metho and made sure the suction cup is clean, but still falls off !! Any ideas.
Cheers

I can see the sense in that- it wouldn't 'evaporate'...Thanks

The only way moisture could evaporate would be if the suction cup wasn't sealing correctly.

Mine has recently started doing the same thing, except it only last an hour or so. I'm about to get some silastic and mount the thing permanetly.

This probably won't help unless you have an
old car like my GQ but when
mine keeped falling down I screwed the mounting bracket to the front drivers side door pillar so it's sits in the perfect spot for me. It might be a bit rough for most but on the plus side guaranteed not to fall of on the roughest roads.

A few small dobs of supaglue gel will do it on some cups but won't adhere to others.
Put the glue on the cup, in from the edge so that it only makes contact with the glass once the cup is pushed down, this way it won't be smeared over the glass as you compress the cup.
Hold it in position for 30 seconds and it won't fall off again.
It's quite easy to remove if need be with a razor/box cutter blade slid between the two surfaces.

A friend of
mine solved this problem by smearing the inside of the cap with egg white. Might also provide a source of food in an emergency, perhaps ... : )
I haven't tried it myself, so it is a 'hand-me-down' idea.

I've used KY or similar before and works
well. Water based, so washes off easily enough when done. Egg white may be good food in an emergency, KY good for other emergencies.
Cheers,
Matt.
