I'm looking for an ice box as a backup for my fridge and came upon this 20% off sale (ends 1pm Tuesday 23rd) which might also be of interest to others eg 45l $143. Anyone have a Techni Ice box or similar?

Sorry. Did the classic - post, then search. Found a few threads on Techni Ice boxes and their cheap compressor fridge but nevertheless feel free to add anything worthwhile or new.

In one word, EVAKOOL.

They are simply the best performance icebox money can buy.

I bought a 40L Techni Ice off ebay several years ago for $45 landed. They are still on there starting at $20 plus $20 postage. If you are patient you will get one for half that
sale price. That's a good size as anything bigger can give you a hernia getting it out of
the car to empty it. It works very well, even after the ice has melted it keeps beer cold
for a couple more days. cheers....oldbaz.

I have a 60lt Techniice box that works very well. Big enough to hold a dismembered body and a slab of your favorite beer cold for a week.

Not sure of the technie / other pricing, but the Anacanda Dune ice boxes are pretty good :)
I always use block and crushed ice . . . 3lt plastic milk container with rain water block ice, and about 1-1/2 bags of crushed ice per 41lt icebox - I have 2, one for food, one for drinks.

After 4 day long weekend trips, I tip around 1-1/2 bags of ice out on the drive from the 2 boxes, and the block ice is still 50% there.
The block will help keep your crushed ice at least twice as long, just freeze it a good 4 or 5 days before going to get it properly frozen solid.
