Barkly Stock Route info?

We'll be leaving on the weekend and heading north. We intend travelling the Barkly Stock Route from near Elliot and heading for Borroloola.

I can't seem to find very much info on this stretch and I am wondering if anyone has done it lately? Anything to see on way and any comments regarding bush camping on our own would be much appreciated.
