Innamincka to Cameron Corner

Hi Graham,

Welcome. Last October I went Tibooburra to Innamincka via Old Strz - corrugations into Camerons Corner were bad but from there on and the Old Strz was good. The Old Strz is good due to the gas fields.

Just 2 weeks ago I cut across from the Strz south (heading north) cutting off Merty to the track to Camerons Corner and Tibooburra. The track into CC and Tib was in very good condition with hardly any corrugations so I think you will have a good drive. Just watch out for emus and roos even in daytime as they were everywhere.

Have travelled that way a few times ad the road depends on the recent weather. A couple of times it was excellent having just been graded and no problem for a van. Another time badly corrugated but still ok. Last time closed due to washouts and caused me a long but enjoyable diversion round to the north.

I would ring the Cameron Corner roadhouse just before you go and ask them how things are.

Hi Graham,
We have recently been to Carnarvon Gorge. Are you aware that camping in the gorge i.e. National Park is only possible in school holidays. It was booked out when we were there so we had to stay at Takarakka at $45 pn. It was very cold at night so enjoyed the powered site.
