Just wondering if anyone knows if 285/70R17 tyres will fit inside the guards on a 2005 ST Patrol Wagon with standard
suspension. The 8"x17" alloy rims are no problem but am not sure about clearance when on full lock and throughout
suspension travel. They are only 40mm bigger in diameter than the standard 275/65R17 tyres so I only need an extra 20mm clearance. Visually it appears there is enough clearance but if
someone has already tried them then I will know for sure. Thanks in anticipation.
Sorry I posted the wrong size in my earlier thread and thanks Robin M for your usual sensible & helpful reply.

Hi Blown4by.
I have 33x12.5 on my 2006 4.2ltr patrol and as Robin stated they do rub on the front mudflap but only when on full lock. I have not worried about it because as tyre wears down a little it will stop. Have had these on since new (2006) so as you will understand it is not a big issue. Hope this helps

Thanks for your replies. Have had the tyres fitted now and they clear everything including the front mudflaps. When/IF I buy a 5th one I will have to modify the spare tyre carrier on the
barn door and won't be able to use my stainless steel Nissan spare wheel cover anymore.
