Hi, Late July will be travelling home to Brisbane solo from Broome (Cape Leveque) to join the Stuart Highway via Northern Highway, Duncan Road, Buntine Highway and Buchanan Highway. Any suggestions re camping locations or caravan parks on this part of my trip?

Out from Halls Creek, Sawpit gorge and Morella gorge come to mind as camp sites.

At that time of year you will not be alone.

Top Springs at the intersection of the Buntine & Buchanan Hwy's is a nice spot for an overnight stopover!

Top Springs :-) Never seen so many VB cans there, we kept going and popped out south of Dunmurra...Lots of bush out there, be no problems finding a quiet spot 50-100m into the bush off the road....

Many thanks John and Alan for your replies. The Sawpit Gorge and Top Springs sound just the information I was after. Thanks again to Explorer Oz, what would we all do without you.

We turned off at Halls Creek towards the old Halls creek and stopped about 30km east, I cant recall the name but it had a little lagoon and palm trees, very unexpected....Trust me from there to the Stuart highway, a community and then Top Springs, there is bugger all inbetween :-)

Watch out for cattle trucks, I mean 55m road trains out there, a mean dust storm

This is us out on the road

Cheers..pete
