Has anybody travelled the Bruce from Caboolture to Rocky recently. I am off to Alva soon with the van and I am thinking of going via
Monto and Biloela and staying off the Bruce. Any advise on this?
Thanks in advance.

I came down the highway a few months ago and there were still plenty of roadworks on the Bruce with many actual stops with flagman. But going up we went on a Sunday when the workers were not working. Still speed restrictions at sites but no actual stop/starts..a lot better. But the route through Biloela is a nice drive as
well. Stop at
Ban Ban Springs for lunch. Cheers

Rick, the route through
Monto and Biloela is probably no faster than the Bruce Highway even with its roadworks but a pleasant route and without both the trucks and roadwork frustrations.
We visit the kids at
Gladstone that way.

We go north every winter and have given up on the Bruce. We usually turn off at Gympie and come out again at
Rockhampton. Much more pleasant drive and no longer.

Thanks Allan,
I am tending to lean towards giving the Bruce a miss.
Cheers Rick

Last time I was down the Burnett a couple of weeks ago it was evident that a lot of traffic was now using it with all the roadworks on the Bruce. Mind you there is plenty of roadworks on the Burnett repairing flood damage.
There were 30-40 caravans stopped at Baan Bar
free camping area and many more on the road.
Beware of the cameras in construction zones as
well

A few days I saw that there was a long stretch of the Bruce down to one lane - just south of Noosa.

The Bruce Hway is 90km's shorter. That's a lot of stoppages to make the other route an option.

I came up the Bruce from Bris-Rocky a few days ago in a B dble at night.Enjoyed a good run even though the road works are in progress most of the way and its 80 kph most of the way.Like I say.It was night.
