Borrowed a mates larger Techni for a longer trip once, instead of my Anaconda Dune 41lt icebox.
Thought it would be way better.
Wasn't better, and might have actually been less effective.
Did the same as I do with the Dune, using a
well frozen 3lt plastic milk container of rainwater in there, along with crushed ice. Freeze for a week at least.
Now have second Dune 41lt icebox, one for food, one for refreshments.
Have done several 4 day trips with them, and usually pack them with food, drinks,
the block ice, and crushed ice the night before.
I can come
home, unpack next day, and still dump half the crushed ice out on the drive, and
the block ice is just a bit melted.
I usually get 3 bags of ice and split between the 2 iceboxes.
Without the 3lt block ice in each cooler, the ice would be gone by the last day.
The block ice melted is great to drink out there too.
Whatever icebox you go for, use block ice with your crushed ice, it works !
