I,ll be travelling to
Cairns at the end of August. We are spending a week going up and a week coming back and have pretty much planned where to stay.
But i am looking for a place to stay for our 9 days in
Cairns.
We are looking for free or cheap within a 25 km radius from
Cairns CBD.
We are self sufficient only clean
toilets would be nice.
Can anybody suggest some nice
places, Along water would be nice.
Thanks
Jorgen & Lis

Probably not cheap - but we find the nicest place to stay when in
Cairns is Ellis Beach - to the north. It is a caravan park but you are literally 'on
the beach'. Stunning scenery.
Port Douglas along
the beach to the north,
Cairns to the south.
One of the most relaxing stays we have had.

I personally prefer to stay at
Kuranda caravan park.
Beautifully wooded sites with bandicoots nibbling your toes, and a short walk along the railway line into
Kuranda.
You may even be invited for a drink with some brothers under the
bridge!
Only a short drive down the
hill to
Cairns and lots of nice walks, and walk access to the scenic railway station and a walk to the cable car.
Good Sri Lankan restaurant on site.
A bit quirky and different and that is how I like it.

Hi Jorgen and Lis
As the nearest
free camp is at
Babinda almost 60 kilometres away, the caravan park at Lake Placid on the Barron River just north of
Cairns may suit you.
