Could anyone tell me the best road to take over the mountains from Nowra to
Canberra towing a 20ft Van with a Holden Colorado. Is the easiest way up the Clyde or through Kangaroo Valley, I think there is another road across there also through
Nerriga I think. ? condition of this road

Simplest is Nowra,
Nerriga,
Braidwood, Bungendore and
Canberra.
Slightly shorter is Nowra,
Nerriga, Oallen Ford,
Tarago, Bungandore and Canberrra.
I did that trip the other way on Friday.

I think the simplest and flatest way is the Nowra/Nerriga/
Tarago route. There is a short section of gravel/dirt road across the river, but most of the way is good quality sealed road.
I would suggest that you dont take the Kanagaroo Valley way as the road up the
hill to Fitzroy falls is steep and windy (ie curves, NOT air movement :) )

Hi Chery. I did the Nowra to
Braidwood road through
Nerriga last week.Nowra to
Nerriga is a good tar road.
Nerriga to
Braidwood is dirt and a bit narrow in sections. We had two logging trucks pass us going in the opposite direction and I would not have liked to be towing our 22ft van at the time as there is not a lot of width. I am not sure if
Nerriga to
Tarago has logging trucks on it but it sounds a better proposition. Cheers,Bob.

I commuted along the Nowra-
Nerriga-Oallen Ford-
Tarago-Bungendore-Caberra route for 2 years - it is a very good run with no log truck. There is a short 2 km section of gravel between Oallen Ford and
Tarago but this was in very good condition. The run is approximately 1 hr 55 min but some may do it quicker than me. Traffic is usually quite low.

Definitely
Nerriga then Oallen ford and
Tarago. Saves having to tow through KV.

Via Kangaroo Valley is slightly shorter than via the Clyde.
When are you going? Clyde Mth will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 28 May to 27 June. The
Nerriga route will be rather busy during those days although I think it will be closed to trucks.
See the RTS live traffic site.
