Hi
Can anyone help got a Prado diesel 2008 when the key is out of the ignition a red car shape warning light flashes on and off it has a spanner shape in the middle of it. Only started when clocked up the 180000km mark.
Cheers
Rob

Have you taken a squiz at the owners manual to see what the icon means?

Rob. That is a light showing you that your mileage has exceeded the national yearly average. Most cars are built to run up 10 to 15k per year. At 180k you are up towards 40k/year so it means it has to be left in the garage until the years catch up with the mileage. Sorry.Bob

Rob, I don't think that is right. The red car light comes on when no fault codes have been recorded by the engine management system for more than four years. They
check why nothing has gone wrong!

Isn't that red dash warning lights like the other dash warning lights.... you just ignore it until the audible warning starts.....you know clunk clunk clatter clatter boom!

If you three were Guide Dogs, Rob would be flattened at the first pedestrian crossing. ie Dead and disabled.

Rob.
On closer inspection you will see that the "spanner" is in fact a symbol of a key, indicating "engine immobiliser system/theft deterrent system indicator light". I suspect that you have only just noticed it.
All good
Bob.

Agree with Rob, took me years to notice in the cruiser, never sat in it with the key out of the ignition.

Your question prompted me to
check mine (same year and model) sure enough a flashing red light being the outline of a vehicle with the shape of a key embedded in the centre of the image. It's flashing away alright and it is under 40k on the odo! LOL
Hope this helps, cheers
