Hi All,
We are heading to Broome/GRR in June/July, just spoke to
Cable Beach Caravan Park about a 3 night stay before we hit the Gibb but they said they don't take any booking less than a fortnight at that time of year.
What has other people's experience been finding somewhere to stay for a few nights at that time of year on Cable Beach/
Broome?
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Lloyd

Perhaps you don't need to book, but they might still squeeze you in? We stayed there a couple of nights in May 2007 and it was busy but we hadn't booked - we ended up paying slightly extra to get a powered site just so we had an allocated spot to come back to each time we returned from day trips (quite important when you've got a roof-top tent!)
It's probably not worth their while managing bookings for everyone who's going to stay a couple of nights, only to find they don't turn up, or are delayed on their way.

We stayed at the Pistol Club. Basic but showers and
toilets worked.
It is used as a spill over
camp during peak times.
No booking just turned up and stayed a couple of nights.

Lloyd
last year early June we stayed at the roebuck roadhouse 30ks out of town thinking we would,nt get in because they don't take bookings and we needed 10 days storage for our vans (did a
Kimberley cruise now off the bucket list). During out time we drove around
Broome and through most of the parks for a sticky beak none were full.A friend said
Broome didn't get the big influx of visitors till Mid July so either take pot luck or start ringing 3 weeks before arrival.

There is a lot of accommodation here during that time.
Just be prepared to pay for it.
Most stories of accommodation issues are because people are not prepared to pay the going rate. And that's ok, they can stay at
home, but keep in mind it's the peak time of the year for us.

Agree with J.
Don't get hung up on the price. 6 months of the year you could fire a shot gun in a
Broome CP and not hit anyone. ALL accomodation in
Broome needs to make the majority of their income in months with no "R" in them ie May to August.
Cheers

Same experience as Bush Camper. We overnighted not far from Roebuck Roadhouse then fronted up to
Cable Beach about 0930 the next morning and were given a very nice site for a week. We paid $50 a night, even though two of them were spent camped in the
Cape Leveque area (the van was still on site though). Everything about the park was spot on and we enjoyed our stay. We even did the Camel Riding bit, then on to
Derby to catch muddies. Yeah !!!!

I think highly of the
Cable Beach Caravan Park management.
We arrived in
Broome and everywhere was booked out. We rang
Cable Beach at about 8AM and they found us a spot for 3 days.
We went up to
Cape Leveque and they told us to ring at 8AM on the way back and they would give us priority which we did and they again found us a spot for 3 days. We found them very pleasant and helpful people.
Cable Beach itself is ExpensiveVille with a pub meal at $38 AFAIR.
But there are several really good
places elsewhere in
Broome like the Mini brewery which is just great.
I really like the place with its quirks like the cops on
Cable Beach and a rubber ducky chasing away a crocodile in the water on the day we arrived, with rifles in the car to shoot it if it was uncooperative.
Where else in the World would you see that?

Hi, we tried to book last year from
Derby after doing the Gibb mid July. Most didnt accept bookings even tough we stated we would be their the next day, we were told to just turn up and see. We eventually got a booking in Vacation village. Quite expensive but it had its own ensuite so after being on the road for 3 -4 weeks the boss was happy.
The very profesional
visitor information centre on entrance to the town has a board out front which is updated daily listing site vacancies. I believe they also control overflow so if you haven't secured a booking you call in there.
cheers
