Pat and I are heading north from
Gladstone later this week, we tow a phoenix caravan with a L/Cruiser and would like to travel west from
Ingham and join up with one of the development roads to come down south again. Can,t find much detail on the roads over the range and wondered whether anyone has knowledge of the area. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers, Nev.

Neville,
I haven't been on that road for a few years. It is a pretty good road and from memory only about 30 or 40 K is unsealed.
Make sure you visit
Wallaman Falls west of
Ingham. If you stay at
Ingham for a few days go up to Kennedy just north of
Cardwell then turn left up to
Blencoe falls for a day trip.

Neville, if you take the Mt Fox road try to get to
The Valley Of Lagoons on The Burdekin River.
Quite a good drive and with your vehicles you should not have any problems.
Well worth the effort.
The road up to Blancoe Falls is ok but not a good road for Caravans.
We did it once with a van and couldn't turn around at the top.
You can get through to Mt Garnet from Blancoe Falls but you will need to get some local info. first.
Great country but take it steady, lots to see.
Have Fun Haji-Baba

Firstly the Kirrima Range Road to
Blencoe Falls from the Bruce Highway just north of
Cardwell is closed and will be for the foreseeable future. If you take the Mt Fox road west from
Ingham then you can go on to
Greenvale and the Kennedy and
Gregory Development roads then you can get lost at your leisure. We traveled through all of these areas last Australia Day time just when ex tropical cyclone Oswald was doing his dirty deeds so pretty
well our whole trip ( 1600km ) was in fairly heavy rain. All good though and tweaks the driving skills. The roads are generally good to very good but please, please slow down a little if you are not regular back blocks drivers. Have fun, take care and may cross paths. Cheers.

Thanks for all that,
We will most likely try to get to
all places mentioned after checking with the locals re road conditions. A lot of that country was hit by Yasi and I believe suffered some damage. Thanks very much for your replys,
Cheers, Nev.
