I just completed the Billy Goat and Valencia Creek tracks a few days ago in a GU Patrol. Billy Goat was relatively easy, but Valencia Creek gave me a good run for the money. I came out the end
well after dark, and under a rising moon. Seemed like a good moment for a photo.
Canon 5D MKIII, 17mm @ F4, 30 seconds. A touch of fill from my iPhone flashlight app.
The route was full of surprises, including massive fallen trees, and an epic muddy
hill.
Things that go bump in the night

I went up Billy Goat's in my Jeep yesterday. Did you walk up to
the Pinnacles Fire Tower? It has to be one of the best
views around. It was yesterday anyway. Cheers.
PS. I also did Blue Rag the day before yesterday and it has been graded all the way to the top...you could almost drive a Camry up there now :-)

Yes I certainly agree. I did it in January just before the fires and the difference now is amazing. I suppose they want easy access for the firies. South Basalt Knob track is graded all the way from Blue Rag to
Talbotville as
well. If it rains they will get very slippery as the rocks have been replaced with clay.

Together with another AMESZ 4wd motorhome we did the
Limestone Creek Track to the Poplars
campground. It had some challenging sections which these pictures really do not do it justice.
It was our intention to go through to
Tom Groggin but the other truck had brake problems so we decided it was best to go back. We now know that McCarthy's Tk and Davies Plain Tk would have been much better. Never the less we have made it back to a mechanic in Benambra.
After work is done on our friend's brakes we will head to Blue Rag and down to Talbotvill then Wonongatta and Zeka Spur to Sheepyard Flat.

It's a pretty steep drop with sharp turns into
Talbotville from South Basalt Knob. I don't know if I would take those trucks down it :-)
