When not out bush we steer clear of cheap fuel. Always try to find a Woolies place where we get good discounts ($30 off for 150 litres - 20c per lt). Got a full main and and half the sub at a cheap place in Belmore once. It was rubbish and I only got 19 lt per 100 Km on the freeway at steady 110KPH when I usually get around 11 Lt per 100 Km for the same trip. Never again.

Good advice. We had problems with a European diesel car my wife drives and the mechanic advised not to use the cheap independent fuel suppliers some of whom may get their diesel from Singapore already refined. Since using only the big names (BP,
Caltex, and
Shell) the car runs better and smoother and starts easily (no cranking). At the end of the day the annual saving in this car from using a premium diesel to a discount diesel is about $100. Simply not worth it.
Cheers

With the closure of
Shell refinery and the soon closure of
Caltex at Kurnell, all our fuel will come from Singapore or somewhere else.
