We are about to head off into the sunset. However, my trusty accountant always likes to keep track of our expenses. (This is great!) We have all the software to do this, but would like to print statements etc.
Is there a small portable printer available in Aus. that seasoned travellers use??

If you want to print statements to send to the accountant, why not install a free "print to pdf" program. This allows you to create a PDF document rather than a paper copy, which can then be emailed to anyone or saved. Programs such as Pdfcreator or CutePDF are readily available on the net.

"my trusty accountant" I read this in the same vein as SWAMBO or the MoWaF.

Just get the cheapest, lightest, smallest one - chuck under the bed & connect when needed. I keep in a light dust proof bag.
Works for me to print pre-bought event tickets and friends mud maps when they don't add GPS address to somewhere interesting.
Cheers Heather

Do you need colour? Colour heads and inkjets are a pain if you are travelling and using them rarely. They dry out etc. If B&W will do it for you, just get the cheapest laser printer you can find. These are quite small and less fragile when travelling. Prices on these go up and down depending on specials but they are usually very cheap.

Nomadic Navara - I had to look up a internet slang page for SWAMBO. Yes, it is my darling wife of 39 years.
I looked up mini portable printers also, but they seem rare in Aus. plus expensive cartridges.
I think I'll take the advice of many replies saying, just get a cheapy (either black or colour) Thanks for all the input people.
Cheers

I bought a $69 cheapie from Dick Smith 3 years ago and have had no problems. We live in our van and are on the road full time.
HINT: Buy spare ink cartridges and keep them in the fridg.Stay safe & stay

I have just looked I to this and decided not to take one. A travel printer will cost you anywhere from $399 upwards. Yes they are available in Aus. The one I saw was a canon so most printer shops would be able to order one at least.

People
Sorry about he delayed response, but had an unfavourable trip to the dentist yesterday. Much better today!
Rebecca H: The software I mentioned was called 'Nomads Notes Travel Diary Software". Found it advertised on Exploroz 12 months ago. (Heaps of comments on Threads - just do a thread search).
The software is still smarter than me, but it has plenty of potential!!
Brodie H3:Have fun doing the 'Plenty Hwy'. Did it in May 2012 with NO SPARE TYRE!! Another story.

I thought heading off into the sunset was about leaving all this sort of crap behind?
X2 for the software pdf option. A great option and requires no cost.
The other option requires the printer, spare ink, paper, storage area, raises security issues for yr printed financial info etc.....

I've been looking at an Epson XP 400 for when we start travelling in a few months. Mainly for the kids to do their schoolwork etc, and to scan anything for the accountant - he's getting electronic copies from me this year!! The best bit is it's only $99 at Harvey Norman! I also like the separate ink cartridges, for ease of replacement.
