Bingara is a fascinating place to visit for a day, couple of days or a week, for it has buildings in the its main street that take you back to the 1920's & 30's.
They have been restored to their former beauty and are a sight to see.
In some
places along the main street, looking and walking into some of these beautifully restored buildings, you could imagine yourself as being on a movie set.
Free camping around
Bingara near the river is very attractive and for those who want to have some luxuries, the modest caravan park will be able to cater for your needs.
The park is friendly, tidy and clean, what's more it is situated next door to a
well equipped district hospital.
The Gwydir river is flows past
Bingara and accessing it from the
free camping sites near town is very easy, where you can release the tinny or the kayak for a very pleasant time on the river paddling or fishing.
In
Bingara, there is the Roxy Theatre complex, a truly
well detailed building that has lovingly restored to its former beauty, where full credit must go to the Local Community and Shire Council who have showed great forethought and vision in preserving this and many other buildings in the township.
The towns folk know how to have a good time, for several occasions during the year, they close down the main street, put out the tables and chairs and have a street party.
