Hi All, I am going to drive from Manjimup in the lower south west of WA to
Darwin. I have a GQ petrol and I figure the fuel cost will be around $900 as it is 4000k or more. So I am going to have to keep costs down. One way I thought of was to set up a bed in the back, so I can just pull over and get a kip rather than going to a caravan park or motel. It will also be useful later around the territory for overnighters. Can anyone share some experiences on building a temporary bed, do you need to put brackets on the walls of the car or can you build a free standing frame that won't fall over in the middle of the night. Of course I would love to put in some flash draw system but my budget is more like plywood off cuts!! Any sugestions, comments or ideas would be appreciated.
Seeyou on the road!!

Whats wrong with a swag? All you need is a ground sheet and a mossie net and you get to sleep under the stars.
Bit
bright on a full moon though.

Try a double blow up mattress, if you don't like sleeping outside, fits just nicely in the back of my GQ ( on rainy nights) and takes out most of the bumps in the floor.
Pretty cheap to.Bush Bappo's 4WD Club
Get out there & have a look

Let me have your email address and I will post you some pics of my trucks set-up. It is not a GQ but will be an idea of
where to start.
Cheers, Willem

Out of curiosity, which way are you heading to
Darwin Hank? via the coast or inland?

I will be going up the inland to
Port Hedland and then around the coast I guess the rest of the way. I am not particularly rushed, but $$$ will stop me from burning up too much juice in low 4wd.
