Hi All,

My brother removed a heavy duty raised (2 inch Kings Springs) set of coils from his 80 series and has had them in his shed for a few months.

When I mentioned to him that I would like to raise my 80 Series he came up with the bright idea of giving them to me for Christmas. So he had his son paint them nice and wrapped them up.

Now my dilemma. I asked him if he had marked them to show which side of the vehicle they were meant to be fitted. He said Yes, they had written on them in white paint marker but when his son painted them we lost all markings.

When I stand to 2 front springs and 2 back springs all on flat concrete, there is one front and one rear spring from each pair that is about 15mm higher than his mate.

Can anyone tell me which side the higher coil is meant to be fitted ?

Thanks guys,
Brett

The taller sprigs go on the Driver’s side.

Thanks Exploder,
I thought that may have been the case but didn't want to guess.

I wonder if they do that for Big fella's like me.

Cheers,
Brett

Doesnt take long to fit the either.....have fun

Most vehicles the higher springs go to the drivers side but on a 80 or 100 Series the higher spring should go to the passenger side.
The 95L main fuel tank runs down the LHS and the rear tank and spare wheel is also offset to the LHS.
BUT if you have a RWC put the higher coil to the same side as the spare as this makes a huge difference.

Well the job is now complete and it looks great. Only took 2 hours too.

The springs that came out had the longest coils fitted to the left front and the right rear.
I have put the new ones in exactly the same way and it is sitting perfectly level.

For your own interest though it did not raise it 2 inches as mine is one of the first 80's and they had longer springs as standard.

I had a quick check on the King Springs website and a coil that is said to be a 2 inch lift on a mid 91 through to 98 80 series cruiser, the same spring is said to only be a standard height coil for a 6/90 through 5/91 80 series cruiser.

So for me to raise my 80 2 inches I need to get some coils that would be a 4 inch lift for the later model 80's.

Interesting hey?

Regards,
Brett
