Has anyone had any experience with the Red Desert Camper Trailer Tents? My brother has just shown me the latest Primus Catalogue and they are featured in there. As I already have a good 7ft x 5ft off-road trailer I am just looking to purchase the camper tent to bolt on the top. Red Desert are offering their largest model - 12ft Trailer Tent which has a tent size of 3.6 x 1.8 metres (folded out) including an awning across the back of 5.35 x 2.3 metres for $1280.00 (ex GST).

Standard features are:
340 gsm Poly Cotton Canvas roof and awning
250g/sq m Walls
PVC Floor
Queen size foam mattress
PVC mesh and zippered awnings to windows.
PVC cover
12 month warranty
etc.....

What does the gallery think? Good deal or not?

Hi Laura B,

The Red Desert camper tent is the one in the Primus catalogue. Primus is the main outlet for Red Desert.

Hope this helps,
Brett

Big Woody,
I have a 2nd hand C/T but i don't know the brand name of the tent unit. The tent unit seems to be good but the PVC cover seems to be too light and is letting in water as it gets older and more brittle.
Depending on what answers you get from the forum, you might have to let your fingers do the walking.
Cheers,
Bros.

Big Woody,

Is the 12ft trailer tent you discribed the same one shown in the Primus Catologue. If so, were did you get that price from as i contacted Primus and they gave me a different price. I also have a trailer and i am looking for a camper tent to fit mine.
If you contact Primus they can give you the closest dealer to you and you can have look at the tent. Camping World in Newcastle has these to look at.
I contacted a few canvas companies and was told not to buy anything under 8ounce canvas. The Red Desert camper tent has 8 ounce walls and 10 ounce roof which is compatable most other tents for twice and up to four times the price.
Hope this is of some help to you.
