SuperCheap Hand Winch

Where's the Big Haul made? Just a guess, but if it's China, the Super Cheap Auto winches could be from the same factory and simply rebadged - much like the ARB Magnum and Terrain Tamer winches (which are simply the same winch with a different paint job as far as I know).

Might pop into Super Cheap and have a look on the weekend.

Had a look at one today, wouldn't touch it. Looked dodgey, was made in China. Walked into ARB and had a look at a Magnum - much better quality. Made in Germany I think - only judging by the German text on the serial number plate.

Super Cheap one I saw wasn't on sale either - $459 versus $395 for the ARB Magnum.

You're right, they are good at copying stuff but lack sadly in metallurgy knowledge.
Often something that looks right has mild steel parts where hardened high tensile is called for. Or the part is brittle when its supposed to be tough.
"give it a try" at home, where you have a chance to return it if it does not do the job. Not much fun finding out about that out somehwere in the never never land.

Yep - you're right - I'd test it under a decent load before I took it out. I'd imagine that such an item would still need to meet some type of Australian Standards to be sold in OZ though - you'd hope safety testing had already been done?... but then I was just looking at the supercheap recall webpage - it appears they have sold items that didn't quite meet OZ standards before!

I'd still give it a try!
