Fred
It was me who said Gunshot was closed, but as I said I was passing on what I had heard and would stand corrected.
Try ringing Eric or Peter from
Cape York Connections, they are based in
Port Douglas and should have up to date info... Ph 07 40941745
Hope this helps and have a great trip
Cheers Poppy

No its not closed it never has been.
But as of all trackes it could be impassible.
There are about 6 different entry points to gun shot creek.
Last year we did the firts trip through the creek second we went around the by pass and came back and had a look.
All the best
Eric

Hi fredd . As Eric says it impassible, but if you have a very
well set up vehicle and winch your self up over or down the so call walls, give it a go if ya keen, other than that have alook at gun shot creek and take the by pass track.
cheers ...

I was there last August and Gunshot was getting pretty stuffed on the south bank, I'd say all entries into the creek would now be verticle drops. No vehicle would drive up any of them. The Pascoe was a dream run, BUT it is always subject to water levels . I went east to west no problem in the Patrol. A Hi-lux followed, lifted it's front wheels a couple of times but still drove through.

Gunshot was OK early in late May. Heading north only of course......the drop into the creek was muddy but shallow. We got through with another hilux, and infront of us were 2 fully loaded (boats on roof etc) GU's - none of us had any dramas. Just take it steady and have a clean set of jocks ready!
