Didn't think it would take long.
I Guess if you have crossed it you would recognise the pic. This photo is 15 years ago on our visit to the Kimberley in 2004

Was it the waterhole where the Japanese businessman drowned in the move The Japanese Story starring Toni Collette, 2003?

Don't know the name of the waterhole, but if the above is correct it might be a clue for someone else.

G'day Explorers

Yes it's Kalgan Pool and yes it featured in the movie starring Toni Collette and Gotaro Tsunashima, back in 2003, Sadly for Kalgan Pool it has suffered badly since the dewatering of the aquifer under/near to the Hope Downs iron ore mine was allowed to go ahead in 2014.

All of the once beautiful waterholes in the Newman Waterhole Circuit have been adversely affected, these being Kalgan Pool, Thunder Gorge, Eagle Rock Pool/Falls and Three Pools.

There's oodles of crystal clear water being pumped into Kalgan Creek about 1.2k's down stream of Kalgan Pool which has created a whole new scenario, some folk say it's fantastic and some folk don't but mostly no one gives a 'rats' apparently.

I don't wish to make this a political thing, but it's a reality ~ like it or not.

If anyone is truly interested, I'm happy to show you through my images.

Safe travels : Joe

Yep, Gbc, it certainly is. It's the new , less interesting showers that they have installed.

The showers used to be an open-air affair for the shearers, just elevated lines of piping with some shower heads. Lovely hot water was gravity fed from an elevated water tank, which in turn was filled with water pumped from the waterhole.

Very dry last time we were there.

Cheers

We were at Currawinya early October last year, certainly was very dry there then. I have watched YouTube video of someone there this year and there was plenty of water about, a much nicer looking place for them then it was for us with water for them to camp beside.
As soon as I saw that pic just now I thought of Currawinya
