Hi Fellow DIYers,
I have just bought a 2012 Toyota 70 series GXL wagon. I am in need of advice about connecting the brake controller. What I am worried about is doing harm to the existing loom by tapping into the wire, and would the computer sense there is another wire attached and shut down the whole car ? I am not familiar with how sensitive these new computers are and dont want to jepodize the reliability of my new wagon.
Cheers Steve.

2012 isnt that new. Wire you're brake trigger straight off the brake wire in the trailer plug. cant go wrong there.

Funny. I've done probably a dozen Cruisers and Prado's and never had an issue reported. Which brake controller?

Thank You guys, I am great full for your advice, got cold feet and decided to leave the connecting up part to an auto sparkie. I did all the wire location and connectors and fuses but the actual connecting I'm not brave enough. Thanks for replying lol the Best Steve.

I hope you didn't use a fuse on a brake controller! Only ever use a circuit breaker
