Just starting to plan CSR trip for late may next year with my Son I have done the trip in 1979 & 1988 & 2003
this trip will be in a Isuzu NPS 300 4x4 camper (has warrior conversion) is it still a no go for trailers & heavy vehicles between
Wiluna to
well 5 & anything that will be a concern for a 6500kg 4x4

I think a fair bit of it will be a concern. Lots of sand dunes and spinafex. Any rain will turn it to a bog. Then there is how narrow and overgrown the track was at
Easter. We had difficulties with a Dmax ute. Got sick of resetting the mirrors and left them folded in.

We did the bottom end a couple of months ago, and Wells 5-9 definitely no trailers. Some sections very narrow, so watch out for your mirrors and expect plenty of pin-striping.
At the northern end you really need to watch out for the spinifex, and regularly
check under the vehicle - our travelling companions lost their Prado to fire around 140km south of Bililuna.

thanks for the info,
I was hopping with the amount of traffic & tours on the track these days it would not be as narrow & spinifex covered, but it must not be getting the amount of traffic I thought it was getting,
It looks like I will vinyal wrap the truck & put 2 spare mirrors in & the knapsack extinguisher it worked a treat last time on the spinifex/exhaust firers & you just filled it up with the
well water & a bit of soap
The first time I did it, I left with a
grey Toyota landcrusier ute (3 Speed) & finished with a steel & burnt looking truck, I know what you mean buy pin stripping & spinifex fires the passenger side must have caught fire at least ten times around the exhaust/muffler
thanks again

Duck - do you remember your start and end dates in 2003? And which way you travelled?

And the same question for 1988.
I am keen to find out if you met any people doing it on foot or bicycle or some other unusual way.
