Hi all,
I'd like to take the
savannah way back to the territory in my Prado. Looking for advice on the route and ease of navigation from
Cloncurry. How much of the route is on dirt road and can I take it all the way to
Mataranka or to
daly waters? How much time would I need for the journey and what are the good
places to stop along the way. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Just came across the
Savannah way West to East. End June '17 to early July '17.
Sealed road from
Mataranka halfway (or a little more) to
Roper Bar.
Dirt road (we did 60-80km/hr) from there to the Qld border. Road for us (travelling East/south) was better in the beginning than the end, so for you it will gradually get better once you cross the QLD border.
The road on the QLD side from the border to Hells
gate is probably the worst, just not as
well maintained as the NT side. Still doing 60km/hr but more rocky/corrugated in
places.
Trust this helps
