Hi Everyone
Just a thumbs up for those wanting to travel outback roads in South Australia...it is time to put your
plan B into action.
The one that will cause some stress for many is the closure of the
Birdsville Track...just like last year in time for the Big Red Bash.
Let's hope it dries out quick and reopens soon.
Cheers
Stephen

Also entire Strzelecki Tk this morning, inc Cameron Cnr access.
Very likely NSW and QLD roads will also be affected.

Hi Les
And as you know being a " Crow
Easter " they are talking another rain front on Monday, so there will be many worried Big Red Basher patrons watching these conditions like a cat watching a mouse....lol
Not sure how much rain you have had in the Big Smoke Les, but we have had 5 mm of rain here in
Clare with more expected today.
Keep dry where ever you are.
Cheers
Stephen

Yes the poor old BRB attendees might be struggling to get in / out, or face a very big detour via NSW, western QLD and
Windorah.
We've had groups coming
home from the deserts having to come out via
Bourke /
Cobar in the past !!
Hopefully the event will be ok with little rain and a dry few days.

Hi Dozer
I am
home, but feeling very sorry for everyone that has planned on heading up the
Birdsville Track next week.
We have been there and done that many times and know just how muddy a wet
Birdsville Track can be.
Cheers

Hey Stephen, not much fun up the east coast either mate.
We are considering hiring out as rainmakers. Followed us all the way from sunshine coast a couple of weeks ago right up to
Cairns, so we headed up into the
Atherton plateau through the aptly named Misty Mountains and won't let up. ... Queensland - the sunshine state Not!
NT and Kimberly are looking a far better bet right now.
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil
Is that normal for Queensland, as I thought that it should be perfect up your way for this time of the year.

Hi Ivan
Have you ever driven the
Birdsville Track when it is open to 4 X 4 only ?
It is still extremely wet and muddy and does a lot of damage to the track and no fun to drive.
Cheers
Stephen

How bad was it Ivan, and are you heading up to
Birdsville?
All the BRBers are in for a take away treat......they say KFC will be there....ha ha
There you are hundreds of kilometres from the nearest major cetre and then you can spoil yourself in
Birdsville with KFC.....they must be on to a good thing and will do a booming trade.
Have fun
Cheers
Stephen

Wasn't to bad. Only issue was the water in the creek crossings.
One of the reasons we go outback is to get away from people so we steer clear of large events

Would you believe this is the DRY SEASON Stephen?
But I am reminded this is rainforest country.
We are not far from
Babinda which
views with
Tully as the wettest place in OZ.
Cheers

Hi Phil
Yes indeed rainforest country is often very wey and you live in. Great part of Australia.
That big green gumboot at
Tully is a testament to its annual rainfall and from someone down south, makes you ponder just how wet it gets up your way.
Cheers

Plan B? A very big detour?
How about going via
Alice Springs and Madigans Line?
In the last 14 days I travelled from Alice to
Birdsville and back along Madigans Line. The weather was excellent most of the time and perfect in
Birdsville on 22/06/17- 26 degrees, no wind, no flies.
The Western end of Madigans received 2mm in the last 2 days. Driving back to Alice today the weather was fine- 14 degrees, sunny, strong southerly wind.
Cheers,
John

And the good old Bulloo Shire has closed nearly all the dirt roads in the shire after 6 mls of rain on Wednesday. Unfu**enreal! 6 mls - the shire is drought declared so imagine that 6 ml is like pouring 2 drops onto a sponge. Fair dinkum and they bleat about attracting tourists to the area. We too have had the princely sum of 6 mls and all it has done on our station roads is settle the dust - there isn't a puddle to be seen! Toni

Hi Stephen, no more rain and they have opened our road now. It still stops our visitors from coming to see us. And the annoyingest thing is they are booked in but don't even bother to give us a ring and tell us they not coming. Hope your friend has a good trip. Cheers Toni

Hi Toni
Looks like I spoke too soon.....
I should have zoomed in on his SPOT location, as we are following his daily progress.
He arrived at your place 2 days ago and is still there.
His name is Chris, drives a white D Max with camper on the back, but the down side is he is a Mexican......lol
When you see his, whisk him all the best and tell him I want a full report on your great station before he leaves.
Cheers
Stephen
