My Oz Charge OC-1230P has just expired -( large bang and sparks from rear of unit when 240V connected) Apparently this unit has now been replaced by a smaller 25amp unit OC1225U.
I would appreciate any information on a good replacement unit from anyone with similar experience. Cheers

How many batteries, gel or calcium, any solar panels & size, light, average or heavy useage of power?
Casual useage or extended tripping?
More info you give the better the answer you will get!
PS.....it the smoke got out.....it is knackered!

Interesting thing my name is Tony H.
Solar still charging as it runs off seperate controller. First found problem when I left camper at relations for 2 weeks while I flew
home. Connected to shed 240V lead and everything was fine but when I returned to commence my trip to
Broome my 240V Apple Charger wasnt working and I found Oz Charge had tripped breaker switch. When I reset it was when all the sparks happened. I disconnected the couple of 240V items plugged in and reset again with same result. I am now back in
Broome and cannot store under carport because obviously I have no solar charging.
Hope this helps.

"Hope this helps":
I'm afraid it does not. You did not answer any of Tony" questions, particularly the important ones in the top line.

OK
2 X 120 Gel, 2 X 150 Solar.
Average use mainly running Evakool 60l
Normally connected to 240v for long periods when laid up.
Cheers

With the amount of solar you have then a 25 A model charger would do. With the batteries you have, ifyou want a quick charge at any time from a portable generator then a 50 A model would be more use.

Here is a link to the one I use. Works a treat for 2 x 130 amp agm batteries . Also has a remote head if you want to install the unit hidden away.

I use them for work and our caravan
Work I use 12amp and sometimes 25amp charge rates.
Caravan I only use 12amp max charge rate, 2x100amp calcium or agm depends on which I may have in, charger is set to battery type.
Batteries left on charger goes into float mode. Not sure if solar may affect charger or not. I do not use both together normally.

The Projecta looks good to me.
Temp compensation plus push-button battery type selection.
I've just put a 25A in for solar only at this stage. They've also released a 50A version.
